As Wightman Gallery eagerly prepares for its inaugural group exhibition 'LINES' at the beautifully landscaped Compass Courtyard in March, here are a few details about the exhibitors.

Blue Chun Glazed Wares

Stoneware, by Nick Stenhouse

Nick Stenhouse and Heather Wilson are based in the Scottish Borders where they established Redbraes Pottery, as part of Marchmont Creative Spaces. They are 2020 ceramic graduates from Cardiff School of Art and Design and are currently undertaking multiple commissions across Scotland. Between them, they teach throwing and design tableware ranges and limited editions such as these above. The full edition will be on sale at Wightman Gallery from 29th March - 29th April, 2024.

Thomas Merrett

Sculptor

Thomas Merrett (born in Suffolk in 1987) is a sculptor, draughtsman and printmaker based in East London. In 2017, he was commissioned to create the bronze-cast sculpture ‘Flight’, now on permanent display at Founders Hall. His work is in numerous collections, including the permanent collection of the Museu Europeu d’Art Modern (MEAM) in Barcelona. Thomas will be exhibiting the maquette version of 'The Listener', at 'Lines' - a large edition of which has just been installed at Marchmont House, in the Scottish Borders.

Andy Harris

Metal artist

Andy Harris is an ex-fisherman from South Devon. Now a metal artist, he produces delicate expressive observations of nature using iron. Andy has not only caught the attention of Wightman Gallery, but the tenacious, East Anglian born chef, Jamie Oliver. Oliver himself has been supporting Andy since his new found iron art career began and commissioned a series of iron gates for his East Anglian garden.

His current project of a horse (pre-liminary drawing below), in tool steel and brazed will be on view and for sale at 'Lines' on Friday 29th March, 2024

In other news...

The mixed media drawing, '10th November' (details below) by artist Charlie Posen has been installed at Wightman Gallery. Currently the largest scale work in the space, the drawing is float mounted and box framed in acrylic and measures 1.5m x 1.5m. Having already attracted the interests of a collector, the art piece will officially go on sale and be available for the public to view at the exhibition opening.
